I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.
Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions

Something people rarely talk about:
US Teachers have too much face-to-face time in front of students.
In fact, the US has among the highest rates of teacher-to-student face time in the world. It doesn't give teachers enough time to plan, grade, or assess well.
We're doing the most.

What I don't understand is how the United States spends 154 hours on math instruction each year, 20hrs more than the international avg, & 40hrs more than high scoring EU countries like Finland & England. In fact, you'd think there was an inverse correlation between instructional time and outcome. 😵💫
