We're a registered heritage site on the shores of Kalamalka Lake, in Coldstream BC, dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of the families who inhabited Mackie Lake House from 1910-1999.
Happy Birthday to our founder, Paddy Mackie! He was born #onthisday in 1922 and his spirit continues to shine as bright as his portrait (M. Bull, 1980).

Today, we join countless individuals around the world in commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe.

On this day in 1945, German forces offered an unconditional surrender--bringing a conclusion to nearly six years of fighting in Europe.

Elizabeth Layton grew up in a beautiful lakeside home in Coldstream, BC before moving to England to work as Winston Churchill's secretary during the #SWW

She was born in England, and later settled in South Africa, but for all of her life, she was steadfast in the belief that she was Canadian 🇨🇦
Elizabeth Layton, whose parents lived in the Lake House from 1925-1940, later said that (though born in England) the years she lived in Coldstream made her feel like she was Canadian 🇨🇦

We had a great time at the Vernon Winter Carnival parade this past weekend! For the 1980s theme we pretended we were from "Little House on the Lakeside," by borrowing costumes from Historic O'Keefe Ranch and hitching a ride with Horse Drawn Okanagan.
