In this Cuomo campaign ad, Zohran Mamdani skips joyfully down the center lane of... 6th Avenue, I guess? Maybe? He is smiling widely as he shoves a fistful of white rice directly into his mouth from a large bowl, the same way a normal person might enthusiastically devour fresh popcorn. He appears to have fully unhinged his jaw, and rice tumbles from his gaping maw. His eyes are closed in near-orgasmic bliss. Behind him are several pedestrians, many of whom are also walking in the middle of the avenue; none appear to be particularly bothered by the bizarre behavior of the mayoral frontrunner. In the background, the sun sets low behind the Empire State Building, which is also in the middle of the avenue. A white quote box is obscuring much of Mamdani's face, akin to how a face mask might obscure the identity of a criminal like a shoplifter or mugger. I hesitate to describe this man's tragically flat face. In fact, it might just be best to blur it with a content warning. No, no, let's give it a shot. To start with: it's incredibly flat, of course, his face. This much we've established. What has not been mentioned yet, however, is his gargantuan, misshapen head. The way it surrounds his face brings to mind a massive lump of sculptor's clay dropped (or perhaps flung violently) onto a perfectly level floor at some great velocity. The asymmetrical roundness of it serves to accentuate the flatness of his visage to the point of physical discomfort for those who might accidentally look upon it. This mound of a head is topped by short, rather unconvincing brown hair that springs abruptly from what appears to be the arched, high hairline of an 18th-century vampire. Roughly six inches below that sit a pair of wide, patchy eyebrows. Beneath each of these is a beady, lifeless eye, the pair of which are soupy brown in a way that is reminiscent of a sick dog's leavings. Between those and the lipless mouth that contains a full compliment of classic British tombstone teeth sits a nose that looks entirely out of place. It is physically too large, even for that enormous two-dimensional face, and its presence on its pale surface calls forth supressed childhood memories of a Mr. Potato Head recovered from behind a radiator in the dead of winter, now permanently deformed by a week's worth of constant heat. Two oddly long ears are hidden behind this sorry pink glob of a noggin, and they give the contradictory impressions of being at once too big and nearly invisible. For some unfathomable reason, this platefaced unfortunate seems to have given up on shaving his stubble about halfway through, leaving only the ghostly impression of a Zod-like goatee. One is forced to wonder if this was done on purpose or if the poor bastard is, in fact, unable to grow hair around the area where his cheeks should be. There is no neck of which to speak.
