I love the glistening light in the tiny spring raindrops. May 25.
A foreground of small green and red succulents, interrupted only by the wet gray form of a small branch laying on the forest floor, gives way to a field of tall, fern-like, vibrantly green plants. All are adorned with the tiny crystalline droplets of a gentle spring rain, shining with the light of the gray skies overhead.

The trees, stretching across the frame, separating the sunset from the foreground wetlands, are a mixture of green, yellow, orange, and red. The tallest reeds in the foreground are clumps of dried amber in the sun, while a carpet of still-verdant green grasses covers the wetland beneath them.

A yellow flower fills the frame, the petals streaked with maroon and orange. In the center, amidst the ruby-red seeds and the orange tendrils of pollen, a bee rests. The bee is still, and the fuzz on its torso, and the stripes on its abdomen are clearly visible around and through its transparent wings. On its back legs, collections of waxy orange pollen are clumped up.

Golden hour is one of my favorite times for color, especially in the early fall when the drying grasses turn that beautiful shade of amber in the light. #photography #landscape #nature
A trail of short-cropped grass leads away from the bottom center of the image, curving away to the left and disappearing in the taller grass. The foreground is a mix of dried grasses, made golden by the setting sun, and the still-green plants of early fall. In the middle distance, a tan, building stands invitingly, its covered porch lit by the amber sun. Behind the walls of the building, a wall of trees rises, dividing the waves of grasses from the waves of clouds with the just-yellowing leaves of a verdant fall. The sky, a pale blue where we can see it, is largely the canvas for light waves of cloud, shadowed here, lit there by the sunset, and together, a mosaic of amber, azure, and grey.

In the background, the dead leaves of winter stretch away, punctuated by dots of green shoots popping up. The setting sun is centered in the image, just above the horizon. At that dividing line, the sky, a clear blue with just a few wisps of faint white at the edge, gives way to the autumnal trees, some still robed in oranges and reds, some fully denuded. Between the trunks of the trees, the silvery glint of still water can be seen, while the rays of the setting sun paint swaths of golden light and shadow across the verdant foreground grass. That lawn is a near unbroken carpet of green up to the water’s edge, punctuated by the yellows of a scant few autumn leaves, a lone picnic table and trash can, and the trees rising to the autumn sky.

Vibrant red flower, with layers of rounded petals stacked like petticoats, and a halo of yellow rising in the center. The green stem quickly loses focus and blends into the green grass and trees of the out-of-focus forest-bordered lawn in the background. Tiny patches of blue sky and puffy white clouds just visible between the trees add a touch of cool contrast.
