The world lost a hero today. She was a voice for the voiceless, a passionate conservationist, a pioneer for women in STEM, and one of my greatest role models. She inspired me to do what I do, and I will continue to work in celebration of her legacy. RIP Dr. Jane Goodall 💚🌱🐵

Texas Tech featured our research led by @madiraibullock.bsky.social in a video "Echos of Guadalupe"

My favorite part is 15 minutes in when a current MS student, Mara Hosaka, describes how field experiences as an undergrad convinced her to go to graduate school.

@ttu.edu made it possible!

"This is like a botanical time machine."

Texas Tech researchers traveled to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park to collect plant specimens and continue work in the same place as another Tech professor and his student in the 1970s.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln is hiring an Assistant Professor specializing in insect systematics. Opportunities like this are rare and valuable! (Not many jobs like this out there!) Spread the word to anyone who might be interested or benefit.

 A professional job announcement flyer from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln advertising the position of Assistant Professor in Insect Systematics. The flyer is divided into sections detailing the job description, required qualifications, and responsibilities, including research, teaching, service, and collaboration. The layout uses red and grey colors, includes a university logo, and prominently features a vibrant photo of an orange and black butterfly resting on a plant. A QR code is present for easy access to application details.

@texastech.bsky.social produced an amazing, short documentary on the research we've been conducting in the Guadalupe Mountains National Park for multiple projects, including my Ph.D. If you're interested in checking it out, click here 🌵🏜️⛰️💚 www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r3C...

Interested in target capture sequencing?

@madiraibullock.bsky.social and I are happy to announce a new service at TTU. Send us DNA, get reads enriched for your probes. Angiosperms353, GoFLAG, Compositae1061 & more!

Funds go to grad student stipends and tuition!

mossmatters.com/blog/TargetC...
Flyer for Target Capture DNA Sequencing at Texas Tech by the TTU Center for Biotechnology and Genomics. We provide targeted DNA sequencing for $30/sample for Angiosperms353, GoFLAG408, and other probe sets. Funds from our service go to fund a graduate student who is running the samples. We can use as little as 100 ng of DNA in 30 uL and provide at least 1 million reads per sample from a NovaSeq6000 SP 2x250 Illumina sequencing.

For more information and the full text of this flyer, visit mossmatters.com/blog/TargetCaptureService.html

I somehow convinced these crazy kids to follow me into the desert AGAIN 😆 In September, we returned to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park to complete the final collection trip of my dissertation. I'm so grateful for this amazing team and what we've accomplished. #WomenInSTEM #IAmABotanist

Our #GUMO2024 fieldwork trip to Dog Canyon is in the books! A HUGE thank you to the GUMO team. None of this would be possible without their help, they are truly an amazing group of botanists! #IAmABotanist #GuadalupeMountains #Fieldwork #TexasTech
