I think this is contextual.
I agree with it in principle especially standing for rights of the oppressed but I think that sometimes taking a side or firm position makes it harder to reassess and shake a bias.
Often things aren't so clear cut, there's a lot of grey.

I'm convinced that Barnacle Bills Seafood is a money laundering front.
Since the 80's here in Adelaide it relies, on the occasional pensioner wandering in for butterfish & chips or if they're feeling flush a splurge on some garfish or whiting.
It's not enough to keep the lights on.
