And when Peter Beter ran for Governor in WVA in 1968 (getting 1782 votes in the Republican primary out of about 170,000 cast) he was best known for wearing tuxedos and mink bow ties on the campaign trail, while campaigning as a George Wallace-esque populist who will help disabled coal miners.
