a new acquaintance randomly dm’d me to hang out tomorrow but they’re so new that i’m not sure if it’s a ‘muslim 🤝 jewish/athiest/nonreligious/etc bored on christmas’ solidarity moment or a ‘i used to be christian and now the holidays make me lonely so i assume you are too’ situation

also update, i am now on this team!! excited to have time to work on fun workshops and events and hopefully NOT have my new students do things like call the front office at 9am on a monday to complain about not getting an email response because i got sick on friday and had to reschedule them
learning that colleagues on the other teams in my department sometimes average at like 1-2 student meetings a day during the normal semester because of no shows is kind of wild

it's excruciating, but i'm resisting the impulse to sign up for another class next semester so i can go back to doing things like reading fiction for fun or drawing in my spare time

sometimes maybe you think you're too neurotic about safety stuff but then you go to your friend's new place for a dinner party and she has their fridge plugged into five different extension cords daisy chained together with one cord sitting in a small puddle of water

spent ages trying to find an apartment in budget where the reviews didn't scream ROACHES EVERYWHERE, moved into a unit on the third floor on the opposite side of the trash pickup, all is well for a month and now i've seen two of the giant american ones in the span of five days

taught a class on time management to my first year students last week. as fate would have it, this only happened to further the narrative for this week, where i accidentally transposed the start times of my two sections and arrived 20 minutes late for class

i am sure that i will find myself regretting registering for a class this semester given everything i have to do for work but. also. this one is fully asynchronous so it's almost like a book club where you're also forced to write papers.

the therapy practice staffed by all white clinicians that kept marketing itself as bipoc owned for the past five years i've lived here finally FINALLY dropped that from their outreach
