If you want a different route to your goal, you could play around with the custom word breaks in the editor settings, if you haven't already.

But for real, this is incredibly detrimental to my coding efficiency. I skip around my code a lot, and if I can't consistently land because of asymmetry (like if I overshoot, I can't just correct it), it wastes time. I can't formulate a "rule" for reaching a place, because it depends on direction.

aber es ist wichtig. 😠

To be more precise: It's not really a "Godot quirk" - there are apparently other tools that do this. However, I've personally never encountered this anywhere, and I find it absolutely bonkers bananas. And unfortunately Godot doesn't make this behaviour customizable.

As usual, this is primarily made for internal use. I won't be providing supporting. It doesn't take into account "custom word separators", because IMHO, those are only necessary to alleviate the insanity of asymmetry. The script is all there if you want to tweak the behaviour yourself. 🫡

Yeah I'm on Jolt! I'm mainly using it for performance reasons, but it seems like it's still pretty far from feature parity when it comes to joints. Do you have any thoughts?

That's entirely accidental. The penguin is being told to turn toward the handle grip. I'm manipulating the penguin's hand with the cursor. When it stretches too far, the handle grip goes behind the penguin, so it makes the penguin turn around to face it.

If you can afford to get away with just a cylinder collider for a bucket in your game, or even NO collision whatsoever, just know that I hate you so so much right now. 🗡️

There's a stalled PR if that's what you mean. I make these for myself to use immediately. Whatever comes in the future is in the future. PRs can get stalled for years.

Trying to figure out which of the following you're saying:
- Most VR devs use rigid hand constraints
- Most people aren't twirling baguettes around in their daily lives

It's not that resource code isn't inheritable. It's a UX problem - Godot gives you a function to intercept property changes, but it doesn't get called for any custom script properties, only built-in ones. So it's just difficult to make it work in a scripted addon.

I've seen people struggle to do these diagrams with the only two-handed VR item they know: a rifle. And like bro, the math is the same. Use a baguette.
