But even if we were to go with the analogy, yes "stop using the bad tech" is a tough sell, but clearly not that much tougher than "here's an ok alternative that won't serve you weird porn or call you slurs," as evidenced by the number of people still on X.

I don't like the analogy because the stakes are different; my risk of accidentally plunging into an epistemic crisis is a lot lower on bluesky than with this hypothetical responsible alternative to ChatGPT.

Right there with you. Maybe it's just that I'm a slow thinker (I know I am!), but I find it really hard to believe that all of these people firing off their takes have engaged with what she actually wrote. A lot of it coming from the "read it again and find where I said that" crowd.

Before all this woke stuff happened, >50% of editors at reactionary magazines could hit the Ballmer peak; nowadays it's fewer than 1 in 5. What of their kids' hopes and dreams?

Also, I loved your book. There are a lot of lasting images from it, but since we're talking about him, "... conspired to send that black and yellow babolat to hell" and the thing about the puppy smoking a cigarette will stay with me for a long time.

It's good to start out conservative with these descriptors. Few can match clippers bizarreness!

Thank you.

Also deserves a lot of credit for this.

Don't worry, it sounds like you dynamically co-produced the laptop.

I used to live in Fort Worth and the discussion about Chick-fil-A reminded me that Dat Nguyen owns (he says "coaches") the franchise there. Two lane drive-through that I have only ever seen backed up into the adjacent parking lot. Some people say it's the platonic ideal of the Aggie career arc.

She's my rep and I agree with you on all of this. I would also like for there to be fewer crypto-friendly people running this country, and for a supposedly progressive candidate to fail that test is immediately disqualifying.

This open letter from last year provides insight into how deep this goes: deevybee.blogspot.com/2024/10/an-o...

There's a reason why Springer Nature actively discourages people from referring to it as a Nature journal and why it's officially cited as just "Sci. Rep." instead. In the past decade I've seen maybe a few good articles in that journal, but I generally avoid it because it's a cynical money grab.

If you really had to guess, the most reliable indicator here is probably the fact that it's a truck.

I like it as a bit though. They should keep escalating it.

"I know a guy in Brainerd who started a petition to get his company to switch their toilet paper once he found out about the origins of Kimberly Clark."

The editors took some time to deliberate, probably legit and we just don't understand genius.

This is nuts. The piece Ben is going to bat for is four paragraphs long. It contains zero analysis! A chatbot could have spat it out.
