This was a good conversation.

Joel, have you seen the 2011 video of Bomani becoming increasingly exasperated with Finebaum for defending Hank Williams Jr.'s racism while also implying that Bomani isn't southern? Finebaum's political orientation was never really a mystery to me after that.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think people have any obligation to acknowledge specific use cases for tools that are explicitly and cynically advertised as general purpose machines. It's not ideal, but I do think the technically incorrect repulsion serves as a harm reduction mechanism.

Yes. And it's not very good. Disobeying an illegal order and getting fired for it is a trigger you only get to pull once. Importantly, it's not something you can do if you've voluntarily quit.

All you need to know about his politics is that he was on the record vociferously defending Hank Williams Jr. for comparing Obama to Hitler and that if you were mad about this, you were misrepresenting "The South" or whatever. This was back in 2011.

Very helpful! That answers my first question about the mechanics. The second question: is this not drilled during practice? I understand that this game is an absurdly high pressure situation, but I would have thought the approach on a ~40 yd attempt from the right hash is just deeply ingrained.
