Jax forgot it's Friday, I forgot to post until it wasn't...what a dtate if affairs, eh? 😆 anyway, for #FaveLineFriday, I give you my most absurd dialogue to date - the context being, the first speaker just heard mention of 'Arse-Flowers' (not a euphemism.)

I wanted to share the bit after this too, but it ran a bit too long. But here's Sergeant Adams from my sci-fi sort-of spooky sort-of timey-wimey project, codenamed CHARON for now. The Lieutenant is feeling a bit strained right now, so Adams gives him a pep talk 😁
A story excerpt. It reads: “Well, of course it's goin' to seem like shit, if you keep lookin' at the shit,” she told him matter-of-factly. “But don't forget you also got me. You got Mags, bless her over-achievin' little arse. And you got Sparky over there, the resident intellectual.” She pointed over her shoulder with her thumb, to where Kosi was engrossed in pulling out parts of the computer to find a way to restart it. “Sure, some of the squad are acting like recruits fresh out of training, but you got a few level professionals too.” Adams finished by giving a broad, smug grin, and while he didn't smile Eirian's eyes glittered with humour.

It reads: “You know, I've been meaning to ask you,” Eirini said, and Persefoni made a groan of disgust. “That's a phrase that never ends well.” She sat her cereal down on their small kitchen table, dropped into a chair that creaked as she did, and sighed with resignation. “What is it?” Eirini clapped her hands together excitedly, grinning like a child who just got a new toy. “Yay! Okay, I was thinking – I've been getting some profiles set up for you on some dating apps-” “You did what?” “-and it occurred to me-” “Don't say it.” “-I don't actually know-” “You're gonna say it.” “-if you're straight or not.” “Maláka, you had to say it!” Persefoni dropped her spoon into her bowl, turning to glare at her sister. “Really? That's the conversation you want to have this morning?”

She hadn't wanted them dead. She was certain they at least were no threat to her, but she also recognised a need for self-defence – although a light maiming would have sufficed. She looked at the office window, just noticing that it had been shattered during...whatever happened, and a cold wind was blowing into the office, scattering papers and chilling her to the bone. And then she felt it – the presence in her mind, growing and expanding through her as if stretching after an ancient slumber. 'Aaah,' a sinister voice sighed from within. 'It is so good to be back home.'

She pulled on a worn pair of black jeans, accessorised with a couple of chains for good measure, and a black long-sleeved T-shirt she had found in a charity shop – she had no idea who 'Iron Maiden' were, but she liked the skeletal being on the shirt's design, and being two sizes too big it was loose and cosy, an ideal combination given the weather. By now she was used to ignoring the many scars that criss-crossed her body, some coiling around her arms like pale, barbed vipers, every one a sign she survived, even when she may have preferred not to. But no matter how hard she tried, she remembered how each one had felt. Every. Single. One. No matter. The cause of those scars was far away now, no longer exerting its will over her or her family, and she could breathe freely. She stared at herself in the mirror, meeting her own hazel eyes, and told herself – not for the first time – that she could breathe now, and she finally released the breath she couldn't remember holding.

I'm not really big on a lot of TFA's designs, but I had to nab Soundwave here when @arc83.bsky.social put him up for sale. Something about the modernised alt mode and appearance kind of just...spoke to me, and I love that Laserbeak becomes an electric guitar that can be held in a proper laying pose.

As a Noble and a warrior of some renown, Lady Lahmea Valacari often has to deal with people less competent than herself, and few are further beneath her than the arrogant, misogynistic playboy, Mordecai Drakhovi. Here is the culmination of him getting a richly-deserved beatdown.
An excerpt from high fantasy vampire novel, The Sanguine Dusk, by Martyn C. Miles. It reads: "I really did not think you were stupid enough to attack me, a General and commander of the army, in my home, surrounded by my troops,” she said, more astounded than angry, “and yet, here we are.” She pulled hard on Mordecai's sword arm, driving her knee into his crotch before pulling him up and shattering his nose again with a powerful headbutt. Again Mordecai tried to attack, his strike even clumsier, and this time Lahmea caught the blade, wrenched it out of his hands and snapped it over her knee. “Are you finished?” she asked, her tone bored, and Mordecai glared at her. “I...will have...my due,” he rasped, readying to tackle her. “Yes, you will.” Mordecai ran at her, throwing a punch that would have missed even if Lahmea hadn't avoided it. He threw two more at her, and the General dodged each time, catching his arm on the last swing and twisting it aside, driving two hard punches of her own directly into his face before twisting his arm around to push his face towards the ground. “Now listen to me, you worthless mongrel,” she told him, “if you are ever given the hospitality of my family ever again, you keep your filthy hands to yourself, you do not speak to me, and you definitely do not abuse our stable hands, or I will personally hunt you down, rip your manhood off and feed it to my horse. Understood?”
