You'll never guess what the "ACTUAL DEOBFUSCATED MALWARE" is

I'm always working on the high side... Which is why they refuse to give me security clearance :(

My favorite thing to explain is telecom infrastructure. It's like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I just make everyone on the tour sad by showing them an ISP that runs entirely on hardware that is no longer produced and was made by a company that went bankrupt 10 years ago.

rip 😭

Then the next level up is just "yeah it's definitely fucked, but also we don't care to fix it"
November 29, 2025 at 9:55 PM
That was my exact thought, but I tried to word my reply in a "nicer" (for me) way. I basically asked him what percentage of orgs he think have application whitelisting enabled.

I actually think Reddit is worse. Hacker News is equally as reply-guy centric, but the average knowledge level is so much higher. I feel like I've actually learned a fair bit from the reply-guys there, whereas the Reddit ones just cause me to take physical damage.

This is the kind of statement I'd expect from a straight out of college intern whose rose tinted glasses I'm about to shatter. My guy, cybersecurity is a dumpster fire, nothing works how you expect, and app whitelisting is about 30 levels of effort above what the average company is doing.

I think it's weird you need a prescription at all. Like who is going to buy glasses they don't need and just make their vision blurry all day. If someone does that it's entirely a them problem

With regards to the first sentence, I recently learned there's a lot of really weird war crimes. Under the Rome Statute hollow point ammo is banned because it's considered to cause "unnecessary suffering", though typically you die a much slower more painful death being shot with regular ammo.

For sure, especially someone whose home was decimated by said country

Someone's comment was just the image of George Bush announcing the "No Child Left Behind" program, but it's cropped so it's just him smiling a waving in front of a banner that says "Child left behind".

Me and my friend obviously have no intention of backing him up, so we're just sat on a roof 100m away mocking him via voice chat the whole time he's being surrounded and killed by the enemy team. Honestly some of the most fun I've had being toxic in video games. 3/3

It's 4 man squad mode, so it's me, my irl friend, racist dude, and some other guy. Turns out the other guy is his irl friend, so starts cussing me out and telling me he's gonna kill me. But he can't get to me because he's surrounded by all the enemies his friend's proximity chat tirade attracted 2/3

All of the US mainstream media is right of the UK media

I suspect being stupid is pretty enjoyable. Imagine waiting 3 years for the Brexit vote to happen, then 4 years for Brexit to happen, then 5 years for the consequence to start fully emerging, only to then MAYBE realize you fucked up. Instead I had to endure 12 years of the dumbest shit imaginable.
November 28, 2025 at 1:41 AM
I still remember getting absolutely dragged on Twitter in the run up to Brexit for saying it was an objectively bad idea. People were genuinely convinced blocking EU workers from entering the UK would somehow fix the economy and bring back job. Honestly some of the stupidest shit I've ever seen.
