Hello! I am a current psychology student. I am interested in anything childcare related! (Early Years/Developmental Psychology). I work primarily with early years so would love to talk and share display set ups, activity ideas and resources from art to toys and anything that makes learning fun.

Reminder to check on the kiddos.

All the stress that we are feeling, they are also feeling, except they don't have the experience and tools we've built up to cope.

If you have a kiddo, please check.
If you're kiddo-adjacent (aunt/uncle, family friend, etc.), please check.

It’s #KidLitArtPostcard day! 🙌

Today I thought it would be fun to share my latest picturebook, “Miss Betti, What is This?” about a changemaker who transformed the Detroit Public School lunch program. It’s near and dear to my heart and available for preorder!

Attended a lecture on Family and more specifically different types of family structures. So interesting to see research that so clearly goes against public opinion on what a 'good' family looks like which is so important for students who want to work closely with children and families.

Attended a lecture on Infancy and early childhood. It's nice to recap child psychologists like Piaget and Vygotsky as well as learn something new (Different paradigms)

Inside Out 2 is among tonight's nominees for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards. Last March, @gayoung.bsky.social spoke to developmental psychologists about how the franchise portrays the emotional roller coaster of puberty.
What developmental psychologists think about Inside Out’s picture of puberty - Scienceline
Anxiety, envy, embarrassment and boredom are the emotions of puberty in Inside Out 2. Here’s what psychologists have to say about them.

Attended a lecture on Infancy. It is wonderful to attend a lecture about the field I am most interested in but from a psychology standpoint. I only knew about observations from a nursery worker perspective and now it is nice to know the differences from a research angle.

As much as I enjoy studying and learning about the psychology side of things, working directly with children is so rewarding that I need to go work to mentally balance university most days

Is baby talk universal? 💬

Across languages from around the world, caregivers use simpler speech structures when responding to their children.

Language simplification appears to be initiated by the infant, creating a feedback loop that supports language development.

Immature vocalizations elicit simplified adult speech across multiple languages
Altriciality, or extended early immaturity, creates opportunities for learning. Across languages, Elmlinger et al. show that parents simplify their speech in response to children’s early vocalizations...
