Yes Izakaya in Shanghai, near Institute of Neuroscience. They had an all-you-can-drink special from the fountain, but I opted for draft Sapporo instead.

Sure, China has invented the future, with innovations like high-speed trains and all-electric traffic. But no-one talks about the Jim Beam Soda Fountain! Dispenses everything from straight Bourbon to 3 different cocktails. Beating Kentucky at its own game...

If you just say those things, that's free speech, not the destruction of free speech.

Human intelligence is overrated and not a useful yardstick for AI - a polemic. markusmeister.com/2025/09/15/w...

Also impressively straight stream. Ignoring aerodynamic drag I estimate a nozzle velocity of 10 m/s, and an internal pressure of 1 atm.

This seems like a complicated and unreliable way to find a published article. Can't you just browse the citations of Erdos's paper and read the abstracts? Maybe that could be done for the other Erdos problems too?

They're probably all from the same slide, we're just missing the connecting pieces of the puzzle :)

How about Steve Koonin's "Unsettled", chapters 5-7. Lots of useful graphs from official sources. And a lesson about the statistics of extreme events.
mameister4.bsky.social
Koonin is in the unusual position of having first-hand experience in all those domains, from physics, to computational modeling, to energy research, to public policy. If you don't have it already, be sure to get the new edition with updates based on the AR6 report.

Koonin's main complaint is not about current climate studies, or even the IPCC reports, but about how they get distorted by political appointees and media figures into what is told to the public.

I learned a lot from reading this book on climate science: "Unsettled?" by Steven E. Koonin. Sure, it comes from a contrarian perspective, but it's quantitative, well-sourced, and nuanced in its critique. Lots of useful pointers to go explore the primary literature.

America: truly the land of infinite opportunity! Where else could a poor immigrant rise from soft-porn model to patron of a premier cultural institution?

Or you might say that shoe screening was always "security theater" and the authorities are finally willing to concede that.

"0" not an option? The trend suggests that would have been the most popular choice.

"chocolate" is misspelled in b and f.

Why are you happy to get all philosophical (emergence, agency, "I",...) when it comes to function of the brain, but not in talking about its development?

Simple rule: Everything Caligula utters is a lie. If it seems to be true on the surface, you just have to look deeper to find the lie. Still working on finding the grift in his support for nuclear energy...

Is it reasonable to say you were "trying" to explain this to the SCB? Or isn't it rather that neurons in you brain followed "particular rules by which they interact with and respond to their neighbours". And the result just looked like "trying to achieve a goal"?

And here is our own website for the book, including praise from reviewers, a sample chapter, a suggested curriculum, PDF files of all the figures, code to generate the figures, and more. 2/2 www.mathinbio.com
