combining the ways of older games with the newer games and camping+shelters from poverty+city life, and in general do what Nintendo won't, indie devs open up the potential for accessible versions of games that move beyond those designs, i'd definitely play a camping focused game akin to early ACNH

a thought i've had for awhile, sorry for the adjacent ramble, but the most fun i have in NH is the "camping stage" of the game right near the beginning, and once your needs start getting met it becomes a weaker version of what you've played before, grindyness afterwards feels so inflated and empty

geez, the labour of these games used to be rewarding because the community of characters was so fun and it made the tedious but zenlike gameplay very entrancing, but that aspect is barren in New Horizons almost entirely, perhaps even a trend of later era Nintendo to fixate on tediousness with play

my favourite is likely City Folk though, maybe its the ease and simplicity of the Wii's aesthetics, but the balance of visiting the city on the train feels so grounded, in each of these games, the community experience is wholly apart of making time for others, it's a respectful fun missing from NH

in New Leaf, it was enjoyable for me that the game had a legislative process to changing the town, it couldn't be done all at once, the way you influenced the town because you were the player felt very naturally segmented into labours
