I ideologically would like to ditch spotify, but I found so many of my favourite artists from discover weekly, including one who's actually ditching the platform now. I can't be ungrateful to spotify for providing that. not sure how to solve this dilemma

PUNCHBOX
I made an entry to the Mini Jam 188!
it's an arcade-shooter game where you need to punch *boxes* with your *boxing* glove and destroy the box-producing factory. made in 3 days. all art by me in Inkscape. no AI.

you can play it on itch! mantevian.itch.io/punchbox

the good feeling when you spend 3 hours and stay up until 2 AM trying to fix a software issue, and then in the morning it takes 5 minutes to finish it all

turned out that neutralino just doesn't work on wayland natively :/

setting GDK_BACKEND=x11 makes it run just fine. it even sets the icon and system tray correctly!

wanted to try neutralino (electron alternative that uses a small precompiled binary and native webview)

instead spent 3 hours debugging a segfault that only occured outside of vscode. next up: comparing all env vars in normal shell and vscode shell to find the cause

seeing non-frontend devs struggle with basic css is validating, I thought it was easy to understand but I guess it's just me, so my experience is actually kinda valuable

my proposition for environmentalism and preserving energy is to abandon js frameworks and stop running several megabytes of a scripting language in every website

kde 6.4 and oneui 7 in the span of a few days. this oneui update is pretty big but I'm not sure about samsung keeping its identity. feels a bit more like google or apple

javascript's textmate scopes are soooo complicated and multi-layered. I looked through some code in go and it has like the simplest configuration possible. literally just source.go and a single scope for whatever the current token is
June 22, 2025 at 12:33 PM
I've spent so much time trying to figure out how this textmate stuff works in vscode and looking through several themes for reference

and now I've learned there's a built-in inspector... well that changes everything and my config is gonna be really small now :D

random css as an example

I hope samsung isn't gonna try to copy apple's new glass style, or I'm switching off of samsung whenever I get my next phone (idk when and idk what to switch to)

Here are the equations for the different corners. If you're using this for realtime, you might appreciate the simplicity and lack of expensive trig functions:
