My #TopShelfFriday selection for the week (and the first one in a long while) sticks with the Shooter signature theme: Valiant's Unity #0 from 1992. Mr Shooter signed this and a few other books for me at WA Summer Con in 2024.

I did have a copy of WW Annual #1 from 2021 briefly in my collection, just for the cover. I eventually gifted it to a friend, who's been a lifelong WW fan.

Today: My submission is officially in CGC's hands thanks to a conveniently scheduled card show in Seattle w/ a CGC booth.

It's spendy as hell, but it'll be good to get the Todd sig monkey off my back.

Bonus comics mail call: I've been hunting this book for > than a year. My white whale. It's the MoPOP-exclusive variant of Spectacular Spider-Man #300, w/ cover by the talented Coast Salish artist, Jeffrey Veregge, who unfortunately passed away last year. This will be one of my most treasured books.

Here's my comics haul from the mini con in Bellevue today. Def mini at maybe 20ish dealers. But they were mostly pretty solid. 100% comics. No vinyl pops, or plastic swords to be seen anywhere. Tho lots of old & middle-aged men, myself included. 😅 Bonus: meeting @vinsonlovescomics.bsky.social IRL.

I looked. But didn't pursue anything. The cover was the only item that really called to me, but at $5000 that was an instant non-starter. A 2-page spread for $1000 looked cool, but I decided my $ is better saved for a couple of upcoming auctions I'd much rather win.

Since you asked, here's some photos of my comics room set-up. 1. The short bins, I recently outgrew my shelves and want to expand capacity. Again. 2. Built-in shelves and desk area. Short box on desk is my to-do list for re-bagging. 3. Cabinets for graded slab bins, collected editions, and supplies.

From a comics swap/show perspective, it was pretty meh IMO. But there were lots of indie creators whonwsre tabling with art and zines, and that was pretty great. Had a nice neighborhood, community vibe to it.

I picked up this phenomenal original art piece of Ziggy Stardust by Chuk Baldock.

Some recent #mailcall Bronze Age beauties bought from a #comics IG seller who had a bunch of high-grade Conan The Barbarian vol. 1 come in w/ a collection they'd recently bought. I don't count myself as a Conan fan, but IMO these are must-haves as a Barry Windsor-Smith fan. And they are 🤩 gorgeous.
