This quote from the Sac Bee makes me think I can have heroes.

When my kid changed her name she was happy, when her school let her do it on her own, she was happy. All that ever matters to me is that my kids are comfortable with who they are, whomever that may be.

This is heartbreaking and terrifying. Trauma from classroom violence is something all of us teachers are expected to just live with. I can’t imagine this, yet I can.
