Thanks Simon, I have never seen this monument before. It is stunning because of its informality as a ‘military’ statue and the sense of despair. A monument that matches the power in Owen’s poems.

I was just checking to see if he also translated A Void, as I always felt the translator deserved an extra reward for rendering the novel into English without the use of the letter e.

One of his paintings from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, seen last month. So many visitors it was hard to always get a straight photo. Love the way these illuminated shop fronts still draw you in like they did the customers at the time.
