Setting up new account here in the hope that I can slowly resume reading fact based posts - need to move faster through the stages of grief. Deleting "X" may help.
Fortunately Mace's daddy was the Commandant at The Citadel, and she was afforded protections that Faulkner and McBride were/are not. Yet she now uses similar bully tactics against a colleague. Just disgusting and shameful.

She was the only female to graduate in 1999. Her class was the first to permit women to enter. How many started in 1995 as freshmen. Does her privilege then and now inspire her to protect the disadvantaged and different? The "first"? NO. She is despicable.

WOMAN RECALLS BRUTAL HAZING THAT DROVE HER FROM CITADEL
It was a frightening four-month transformation that the young woman said she will never forget: from unease, as one of the Citadel's first female cadets, to fear and dread, never knowing when rough jo...

She unlikely suffered any of the physical and emotional duress/torture that these women describe and caused them to flee the storied SC military college. Because of "daddy". Does she even think to pay it forward? Now she is one of 435 Congressional Representatives. A honored and storied position.

I wonder if she ran into any gender challenges at The Citadel, as the first woman to complete all 4 years and graduate in 1999. Probably not as her daddy was: "Brig. Gen. Emory Mace, the commandant at The Citadel whose daughter was the first female graduate from the state military college..."

And Speaker Johnson has quite a history protecting Southern Baptist Leadership Conference membership against sexual assault complaints. With a particular emphasis on hiding it all under the rug.

hmmm, I seem to recall Speaker Johnson identified as part of a team of a determined legal team orchestrating the cover-up of rampant sexual abuse within the leadership ranks of the Southern Baptist Convention. So he is well suited for his new assignment, experienced and all right?

I did. Keep them cut back and figure out a plan for using or giving out the harvest. After a while we got a fruit fly infestation and no matter what I tried could not get rid of them. Got rid of the herbs and flies disappeared. Would need to figure out how to prevent that before starting again.

I took my mom out to lunch Sat. She is frail, mid 90s. It was a new CAVA Bowl, small, loud & packed. We waited to select our bowls & planned to take out. At the end a young woman came up & tapped my elbow & said she & a friend were saving a table for us if we planned to eat in. A small kindness.

oops, sorry and just noticed you asked for fiction reads. If you like a bit of mystery, suspense and some nail biting then I suggest Never Lie by Freida McFadden. Couldn't put it down and thought I figured it out and certainly did not. Love her books for that.

After a little more than 24 hours, it seems like this platform could be valuable to me and I would likely consider subscription terms - however, further exploration, experience and time is needed to determine my own personal value equation.
