Are you going to Cliftonville Farmers’ Market today?
👋🏻 Look out for our lovely members talking about Bystanders can be Lifesavers, our campaign which encourages people to learn how to save a life, including how to find their nearest defibrillator and check it’s ready to use.
🧜‍♀️ See you there?

They have a table in front of them covered in a turquoise tablecloth, and on that is a heart-shaped bowl containing advice cards to help save a life. The latest Women's Institute resolution. CPR training is important. The more people who can do it and are confident in using it, the more lives are saved.

Wow - @margatewi.bsky.social's resolution passed with an enormous majority! 97.7% of members voted through Bystanders can be Lifesavers - a new campaign for 25/26; championing CPR skills, esp tackling reticence to cut or remove women's bras in order to giving life-saving help for heart attacks!

We are thrilled to confirm that our lifesaving proposal is to become the new national campaign for @womensinstitute.bsky.social
The WI has been such an important campaigning body for over a century, & to think that Bystanders Can Be Lifesavers, will become part of that- wow!
Very happy members of Margate WI stand together on the seafront with their WI flag, a defibrillator and other lifesaving themed items.

#WI_AM2025 Now we're hearing about the resolution for a new WI campaign, Bystanders can be Lifesavers - proposed by @margatewi.bsky.social. It would improve access to defibrillator training, and challenge reticence about removing or cutting bras. You could save a woman's life!
The BHF presents a slideshow giving the NFWI lifesaving tips, including learning CPR, encouraging others to, and take things further by taking the (proposed) campaign into the community.

We’ve filled nine bags of rubbish in Northdown Park as part of a litter picking session this morning (Sunday 11 May).
We collected discarded drinks cans and bottles, bagged dog mess and any other litter we saw.
Thank you to @thanetcouncil.bsky.social for collecting the filled bags afterwards. 🙌

Piles of postage stamps made from fabric. On the back of each is written ‘Save a life, defibfinder.uk love Margate WI’ Strips of fabric being cut down to size for the stamps A pile of fabric stamps and a poster asking people to take a stamp and keep it close- it may save a life one day.
