to all the Labour mps on here can you tell your leader we need a commitment to reverse the Jobseekers policy that National has just introduced. Thats not giving your policy away that is exercising basic humanity and getting rid of very poorly formulated policy. Just say it. Come on.

not to mention the retraumatising of the kids having to go through that process when many will have already gone through it to get the Youth benefit. I have supported a wider fam member through this process and its not easy.

every day this government shows how nasty and vindictive and useless they are. Young people (sometimes abused, sometimes impoverished, some with disability or mental health issues) do not deserve to be their next target. They should not have to beg their parents for support. Just absolute c...ts.

Biggest 6 month rise in youth (15-19) unemployment this millennia,
Q3 2023 - Q1 2024 + 6.9% (28400 unemployed to 42100).
Biggest Annual 2008-2009 (+6.8%, 26200 to 35200 unemployed), 2nd biggest annual 2023-2024 (+5.4%, 30500 to 38800 unemployed).
This is not caused by youths playing video games.
