some little bluesky tips 🦋

your blocks, likes, lists, and just about everything except chats are PUBLIC

you can pin custom feeds; i like quiet posters, best of follows, mutuals, mentions

if your chronological feed is overwhelming, you can make and pin make a personal list of "unmissable" people

It is wild that anyone out there is advocating for MORE human labor in image moderation. a friend of mine used to be a 4chan janitor. they’re dead now, but they spent the rest of their life unable to look at a child without feeling sick.

Ugh oh no, I’m sorry! We had some really awful ARR reviewers in the last year that made me ashamed of our field :(

Realized that I can specify case sensitivity so the string COLM is back! Also added all posts from the official conference account.

Thanks @graze.social as always for making this so easy!

Added #COLM for the chaotic good among you

Ok it’s updated to not include the string, and I also now allow mentions of @colmweb.org
mariaa.bsky.social
Note that it’s currently matching to both the string “COLM” and the hashtag #COLM2025. I underestimated how many people are posting about people named Colm! I will remove the string matching and other ideas are also welcome 🚧

I’m in Ithaca today, on my way to give a talk at Colgate University tomorrow and then Montreal for the rest of the week for #COLM2025. The weather is *too* beautiful for this autumn road trip.

ATProto has huge potential for supporting new ways of doing science, but to get there we need discussion & coordination spaces - we opened a new Discourse space for ATProto x Science at discourse.atprotocol.community/c/atproto-sc... 🧪

In collab w/ Semantic Scholar, we conducted a large scale (800+) survey of researcher usage and perceptions of LLMs for science.

Major findings:
+Most are using LLMs already, mostly for writing
+LLMs seem to be a win for research equity
+But some groups, like women, have more ethical concerns too
simonaliao.bsky.social
Hi everyone, I am excited to share our large-scale survey study with 800+ researchers, which reveals researchers’ usage and perceptions of LLMs as research tools, and how the usage and perceptions differ based on demographics.

See results in comments!

I think lack of discoverability is one of the issues. To this day there's no way for someone using the app to know a labeler exists unless someone links to it. It's the reason I made the Labeler Explorer feed, and even though it's literally just one line of regex it's my most liked feed
