Ani is gone. She was old and her body was failing her. She had a mass pressing against her stomach that the vet suspected was cancer. She could no longer keep food down. She loved this world and I’m so sad for her that she can no longer be part of it, but also relieved that her suffering is over.

My thoughts on Trump's big Autism announcement-
He sounded like a 4th grader who did a bit of "research" on the internet and then got up in front of the class to give a report.
I actually laughed.
I would encourage everyone to find smarter people to listen to and to engage in basic fact checking.

I don't doubt that if I knew Utah Governor Cox's ideology I would find parts of it to be abhorrent, but nevertheless, his words at the press conference this morning were deeply healing and resonant. I wish Trump and his administration would listen and learn from this guy.

These are hard words to live by, especially when we are experiencing such fear, but they are what we desperately need to strive towards.

Power has been stripped from the people and weaponized by a vengeful man. Those who should stop him have submitted. Rational people find themselves in a place of fear. When cornered with little hope for escape, people tend to respond with fight or flight. Violence is wrong, but it isn't surprising.

If someone fires into a church full of praying children, shooting 20 and killing 2, your focus should not be on the shooter's gender identity. If that's what you believe matters here, you're suffering from a serious lack of empathy.
And to be clear, lack of empathy (not gender) is what got us here.

The second amendment guarantees the right to a militia to guard against federal tyranny. But if a president can use that force against its own state, against the wishes of that state, then it is no militia at all and a clear violation of the second amendment.

We can't stop school shootings because it's a violation of the Constitution, but we can shred the Constitution to allow for Fascism, the arrest and torture of brown people without trial and the dismemberment of human rights. It was never about the Constitution. It was always about lack of empathy.

I feel like I should have something to say about the threats being posed to Autistic people by the Trump Administration, but it's hard to go there. The horror of immigrants being sent to CECOT has been the loudest thing in my head. Autism has been my escape. Now it's infected by MAGA. I hate that.
