Hi friends,

Many of you know me, some it’s the first time meeting.

Here’s an introduction from last month when BlueSky has a multitude of new accounts. It’s a decent overview of my social media interactions & goals.

TL;DR: daily natural wonders, always punch a nazi, good faith engagement.

Welcome new friends and friends I haven’t seen in awhile~

If you’re sharing this BlueSky space with me you’ll be seeing a lot of mountain & desert adventures, the wonders of the cosmos, and lots of invertebrate creatures. 💜💙💚
1/1
Devil Postpile national monument with multiple columns of basalt in the side of a mountain surrounded by conifer trees A desert lake with pinkish purplish and reddish auroras above it and reflecting in the water. A small metallic blackish greenish fly with iridescent wings getting nectar from a small purple flower

Common darters (Sympetrum striolatum) dispersing eggs across the lake. It’s a rather precarious way to ‘lay’ eggs - the male attaches himself to the female and they fly around together as she sprays eggs all over the place 😳

A photo of two dragonflies flying together in tandem. The red male is in front, his tail end attached to the female’s thorax. She is a paler yellow colour. They are flying over water, some lily leaves are coming into the photo on the right. The same pair, still attached, flying over the water.

It’s just good to get out! This morning I started working at 5 AM, so I definitely deserved the sagebrush ramble later.

This telescope is specifically astrophotography. But there’s a lot of smart phone eyepiece attachments you can buy. Until Husband gave me this, all my pics were w an eyepiece attachment.

Sometimes it feels like cheating with the Seestar, but I still love to just observe w my “regular” telescopes.

The other side of the moon’s journey across the celestial sphere.

SuperDog Rex & I followed it through the sagebrush. The more we chased it, the further into the west it fell.
A waning moon just past full above a sagebrush landscape and a mountain ridge with some conifer trees. The sky is blue.

It is with a “smart” telescope called a Seestar S50. Small little telescope that operates off an app on my iPhone. Can take very long exposures of astronomical objects like nebulae and galaxies. Not great for planets though. Had a solar filter, so can do the sun, too.

A tiny moth, barely bigger than a rice grain, from the Mojave Desert. The curved "horns" are mouthparts, the labial palps. They help the moth both taste and smell - including being sensitive to changes in CO2 levels. I think they make the moth look like a mythological creature up close. 🐙🌿
A macro photo of a ghostly white moth on almost-white sand. The moth is seen from a front 3/4 angle; only the face and part of one antenna are in focus, and the back third of the body is out of frame. The moth has long, backward curving mouthparts called labial palps that look a bit like the curved horns of a mountain goat.

Camaraderie, counsel & comfort.

Found friendship I’ve rarely experienced in real life. In these friendships, I don’t have to mask my neurodivergence & am valued for my insights.

I’ve had amazing in real life adventures with incredible people who I would have never met beyond the digitalsphere.

Beloved Son needed a water bottle for work.

“I have a lot but you might not want this one…”

He snatched it from me so fast. Liquid IV & some 🧊 goodtogo.

Inktober day 8’s prompt is Reckless. #art #inktober
A horned goat perched precariously on a pile of junk including a birdcage, teacup, book, old tire, old style television, and a baseball bat. A butterfly also sits on the bat and a lock and chain hang from the bat. Pen and ink drawing.

Have a had a few. I’m just keeping fingers crossed this all settles down before next year’s bug season. It takes a couple of weeks to train my eyes to spot the bugs, but with this weirdness in my left eye, I’m spotting a lot of bugs that aren’t there 🤨

Have had a few of those. But lessened over the days.

Last night’s evening walk was wild because she had to super dilate my eyes. The moon, all the landscaping lights, street lights were showers of light falling from them.

Guess the only time I’m grateful not to be looking down a microscope 😕
