The feral cat I am feeding is shacking up with a skunk! At least for now they are both sharing the underside of a neighbor's porch and have been seen eating from the same bowl of cat food. There is another skunk under my little deck, it's benefitting from the cat food as well.

So far the cuts have not affected the care my dad is getting, but I am sure they will, soon enough. He is old enough that medicare will help with most things, but... I can only hope that they don't cut the home health aide program. That would be a huge blow for us.

There are a lot of small bats - these are Little Brown Bats. And they, even as adults, are small!
My sister had one use her patio umbrella (furled) as a sleeping spot for a few days - when she opened the umbrella to see what the dark "stain" was, a little bat fell out, then flew away.

There are a lot of small bats - these are Little Brown Bats. And they, even as adults, are small!

Reminds me of the woods that were behind the house I grew up in. We'd follow animal trails, slowly turning them into kids' paths, and found many ponds, wet places, rocky piles. And trees to climb!

It stayed hidden for so long, so many were emboldened by the lack of prosecution. Then finding others of the same sickness became so much easier - the web! - and damn, it's like cockroaches who learned to love the sun, pedophiles and abusers leaving every nook and cranny, attacking at will.

There's a shop near my sister's house that carries everything, it seems. Used books, new books, locally published books, best sellers. I love the place and when we shop there sis has learned it is a 2 hour browse, not a run in and out thing.
