they're considering 'special economic zones' but why not something closer to a 'special administrative region' or 'semi-autonomous province' etc. somehow keep getting surprised at how unimaginative 'leaders' are at coming up w/ solutions for geopolitical problems, particularly ones we've seen before

we should have a law, at least in the city if not elsewhere, like France does, that prohibits supermarkets and other establishments from throwing out edible food. the amount of perfectly edible waste this city produces is absurd. some is composted, but could be used to stock food banks that need it
