Good morning, here is my latest for the paper!
Ethel Lina White (1876-1944) wrote incredible suspense novels in the 1930s like THE WHEEL SPINS and SOME MUST WATCH that were adapted into films by Hitchcock, Siodmak, and more.

But she never got a NYT obit, until now. My latest, for the paper’s “Overlooked No More” section:
Overlooked No More: Ethel Lina White, Master of Suspense Who Inspired Hitchcock (Gift Article)
A powerhouse of the genre, she published around 100 short stories and 17 novels, one of which was adapted into the acclaimed film “The Lady Vanishes.”

"There is ZERO reason pets should be fed raw diets. Stop endangering pets because of wellness influencer disinformation."
H5N1 is a concern for many reasons—it is also the reason domestic cats are dying after being fed raw pet food and raw dairy.

This “idea” is an atrocity.

For ACTUAL information on H5N1, read some of my articles on the topic:

The death of a domestic cat from bird flu is a reminder: raw pet diets are not safe.

this is a beautifully written obituary; but one might wish that the exuberant, life-affirming side of Paul Auster had been given equal time. not a mention of Paul's truly remarkable brilliant biography of Stephen Crane, a major work.

yes, Gloria Vanderbilt's Dream Boxes & her bravely bold, colorful impressionist paintings are the very essence of Gloria's spirit. she was a generous supporter of the work of younger women--writing, art, theater. badly missed!

Karyn Kupcinet, Dorothy Kilgallen, and Mary Pinchot Meyer had little in common in life. In death, however, they share one particular indignity: having their untimely ends overshadowed by the ever-chur...
