“What makes it important is that it was embraced so fanatically by so many millions of Germans, and that if it led, as it did, to their ultimate ruin, it also led to the ruin of so many millions of innocent, decent human beings, inside and especially outside of Germany.”

The Nazi State, by William Ebenstein, Asst. Prof of PoliSci, U Wisconsin, 1943. Very interesting analysis of the Nazi state, and the historical context for each chapter subject matter.

And like The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, by William Shearer, this work is also very prescient.

Making my way through Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Are we stepping into the most relevant week since Shirer first published? I’m in the “Rise” section. The parallels b/w the rise of NSDAP and MAGA do not seem coincidental. New era, same tactics.

Stay safe folks.
