This report is a damning indictment of the way nursing is chronically undervalued, with highly-skilled nurses being routinely pushed into lower paid, less senior roles.

Governments need to recognise nursing as the expert, safety-critical profession it is.

The US administration's proposals to exclude nursing from its list of professional degrees will restrict access to student loans, leaving many students unable to pursue a nursing career.

This is the wrong approach and we will always defend those who sit at the heart of every health and care system.

The chancellor pledged to protect the NHS, yet it was just a footnote in today’s Budget.

Simply declaring there will be ‘more nurses’ without the funding or plan to make it a reality risks deepening the workforce crisis and putting patients at risk.
