In hearing Premiere Smith's response, she make it very clear she's willing to legitimize and protect this separatist movement. That to fix this issue they need to be won over... By giving Smith what she wants politically.

Very clever wording, very uncanadian intent.

What media sources are lying to us and which ones are trying their best?

First, be skeptical of media which conveys an emotion, like fear, anger etc, while reporting or giving opinion. If you feel what they feel, you will believe anything they say.

It's manipulation that's sold as entertainment.

All of our political leaders, liberal or conservative, have overseen a rise in wealth inequality.

The average person feels this wealth inequality as an affordability crisis for basics like groceries, medications and housing.

Creating more wealth for the wealthy doesn't fix this inequality.

Trump's grand plan has been revealed.

1st, force all allies to increase military spending so they don't depend on the USA militarily.

2nd once they've done this, threaten allies with war.

3rd wait for a really good deal to come through

Canada's big six banks made $70 billion in profits last year on the backs of working people.

So I went to Bay Street to ask bankers whether it’s time for a wealth tax.

If you agree, become a member of the NDP and let’s fight for it together: avilewis.link/join

As America falls toward fascism I want to remind my fellow Canadians that we are vulnerable to the same changes.

First past the post allows for a minority of votes to gain a majority of unchecked power. MPs are forced to vote with the party leader over constituents.

Both of these need to change.

Our current economic system is extremely effective at making the wealthy wealthier. As a result we are at historic levels of wealth inequality, while those without wealth struggle to afford basic life essentials.

We need to change the economic system to fix this issue or it only gets worse

For all the people who want market solutions to social problems.

Markets are amoral, or without regard to moral principles, or morally indifferent.

Markets are interested in extracting profit, even at the cost of long-term benefits.

Corruption is one of the best ways to extract profits.

A lot of people are losing faith in our election system because they feel they aren't being represented.

While I share those frustrations and believe we need to fix this problem I will point out the primary benefit of elections. The peaceful transition of power. It's still better than a civil war.

Now that Trump is actively threatening military action against a NATO country and has demonstrated a willingness to follow through with the threats with Venezuela, can the Liberals start taking the trade war with the USA seriously.

Let's stop treating Trump as a rational agent.

We can all see how corrupt the American political system is. The important question comes down to why.

The answer?

The election rules which require billions of $'s of fundraising from private sources. No wonder billionaires and corporate interests prevail while regular people struggle.

Here's one simple tax change which makes our taxes simpler and less misleading.

Calculate taxes owed using the effective tax rate (avg tax over all $s earned) instead of the marginal rate (tax on next $ earned). It will show people's actual tax rate which is much lower.

Raising military spending is going to push Canada further into debt. Paying for this through increased taxes on the wealthy is justified.

It's the middle and lower income people who will burden the majority of fighting. The wealthy should pay for the majority of equipment and salaries.

An unsolved problem with Capitalism; it rewards quick extraction of value even if it costs long term harm.

Decades of government economic policy have attempted to do exactly this. Pursuit of quick short term rewards at the cost of long term damage.

Controversial position:

Trump is a liberator. He promised his followers he will liberate them from the responsibility of doing the right thing, being kind to others, and striving for competence.

He promised that once you're free of all these things, then you will be wildly successful.

In today's society, combating the power of the ultra wealthy is a radical idea. Providing a living wage for all is radical. Addressing our dysfunctional government systems is radical.

We are being told the path forward. That the welfare of all requires us to radicalize.

It seems we could learn a lot about mutual understanding in our #cdnpoli. I would like to see what our country looks like with it as a core component.

When a political leader says the system is broken and they can fix it one of these happen.

1. They take power and use it for themselves

2. They take power to make things better

The difference?
1 requires gaining power
2 requires gaining power and integrity

1 is easier and therefore more likely.

With Carney moving the liberals moving so far right they're absorbing the conservative party maybe the conservatives are ready for change.

Like helping average Canadians instead of just pretending.

One thing needed to create good ideas and healthy political systems?

Open, honest and respectful discussion about ideas.

If this breaks down, not only do the ideas become worse, they become more extreme.

Would you describe our political discourse as open, honest, or respectful?

Did you know we live in a two class society?

The two classes are separated by those with wealth and those without.

Being wealthy is to have enough wealth where you can live off the returns while still growing your wealth.

Then you can stop working and pay 0% in taxes.
December 13, 2025 at 2:37 PM
When I talk to people about new political ideas which would help all Canadians I consistently run into the same counter argument.

You can't fight against the wealthy, because they are too powerful.

Are they wrong, or maybe we need to prioritize the search for people willing to fight.
December 13, 2025 at 2:18 PM
I long for the day our politicians advocate for policy which benefits the welfare of the average Canadian.

Today that is not what we currently have. We have political leaders which advocate for the growth of spending and increasing incentives for the wealthy to invest.
December 11, 2025 at 6:16 PM
There's a real double standard between the treatment of the wealthy and the treatment of everyone else. One big difference.

The wealthy becoming wealthier is considered good for everyone.

The average worker becoming wealthier is considered a threat because they might stop working.
December 7, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Productivity = GDP ÷ hours worked

Mr Carney is trying to improve productivity by increasing GDP.

A better idea, we reduce hours worked. It will improve the quality of life of workers and create a lot more jobs.

The liberals will never do it because it's not clear how the wealthy get wealthier.
