First primroses flowering at the base of an old Ash tree in the garden. Nibbled pale yellow petals, possibly mice or bank voles have enjoyed a sweet treat? Primrose clump with a good few pale yellow flowers. Bluebell foliage emerging deep green around it, also dark leaves of Ivy Tiny mauve-violet Crocus flower buds in grass. The blooms only open in sunshine - today was grey & showery, so closed My favourite little (18 inch high) chestnut fence which once deterred our senior foster dog Charlie from tipping over the edge & down a steep slope into the pond! A keen mud-bather in his youth - the fence seemed to work OK? Pretty patchwork tangle grows beside the fence now - a clump of Primrose foliage, emerging Bluebell leaves, patterned leaves of Cyclamen, & Ivy twining between.

Moss cushions on the slope of a low roof in sunshine against blue sky. A curled metal upright band is at the corner of the roof tiles - no idea what it’s called? Rounded seam of our roof is dotted with a sunlit mossy landscape. Gutter at the lower roof edge. Blue sky beyond. Rows of sunlit mosses on a tiled roof give a kind of pin cushion effect. Triangle of blue sky at top right Undulating waves of lush green moss covers the lower half of the roof above the guttering. Guess the birds chose to peck the upper half first, as very little moss remains up top?

Pic 3 is from primary school days - *arrangement of flowerheads on a plate of moss* - my entry to the Spring Flower Show, age 10 🌷
Round terracotta dish - tipped at an angle to help drainage + gravel and one larger stone for lichen collection. Lichens are resting on the gravel - some on short twigs - all are soft grey/blue/green, some with fringed feathery fronds, others are more scale-like In a rectangular wooden tray with holes at each corner & an oyster shell at lower end - various lichens are growing on short twigs. Grey/blue/geeen & some ochre/gold Old pic of indoor windowsill with yellow crocus & white snowdrop heads arranged on a plate of green moss - in an almost mandala pattern. A single purple crocus bloom at the centre. Behind is a cream coloured jug with foliage, snowdrops and a single red dwarf tulip. Outside the window is a (parked) 1960s Ford Popular

Around are its fresh green leaves Think this is a sad remnant of a Sow thistle’s yellow flower? Petals are closed up. Also surrounded by Goosegrass foliage Deep crimson flower head of Red Valerian. Fresh green leaves. Growing happily at the base of our house wall. Partner asks when it can be cut back/removed? I reply “when all the flowers are finished” 😇

Window with twilight deep blue sky, on last day of 2025. A row of coloured ball lights along the sill, a small gold wire Xmas tree & three potted houseplants. At the right is a tall cream candle, lit. Happy sugar-pink pelargonium ‘Lotusland’ - zonal/ivy-leaved. In a terracotta pot with neighbours in a plant tray. Many spent petals from Pelargonium sidoides are scattered about - looks like mouse poop! Sunlit flowers of Orchid on windowsill - creamy white petals with magenta centres Miraculous survivor from Woolworths, many many years ago - didn’t think this string of coloured lights would *still* work … again? Surprise! Pink, pale green, orange,red & blue fairy lights on a shelf with a pinecone garland - also Woolworths. Little red bows are dotted along its length, between the brown cones.

Peachy pink rose, almost fully open. Another bloom and hedgerow/ivy behind. The rose ‘bush’ is very leggy, large & mature with blue grey lichen along its older stems. Two pretty peach/pink roses on tall stems. A grey cloudy sky behind. Rose shares her corner with dark green ivy

Two purple indigo flowers of Sweet Violet beside two golden yellow Field Maple leaves next to the path in rare sunshine, on Friday Starry flower of Borage, heavenly blue. Its foliage, stems and unopened buds are downy hairy spiky Single flower of Vinca/periwinkle, with its own green foliage plus dark green leaves of Ivy, white-veined. It was frosty on Friday morning, melted here as tiny misted droplets on petals and foliage OxEye Daisy facing away into long dry grasses and Foxglove leaves. A couple of fallen yellow Field Maple leaves give extra colour in this sheltered bank

Two sunlit sugar pink roses on slender stems. Old Blush rose. Trio of buds yet to open. Its fresh green leaves against silver grey Curry plant foliage.
