First primroses flowering at the base of an old Ash tree in the garden. Nibbled pale yellow petals, possibly mice or bank voles have enjoyed a sweet treat? Primrose clump with a good few pale yellow flowers. Bluebell foliage emerging deep green around it, also dark leaves of Ivy Tiny mauve-violet Crocus flower buds in grass. The blooms only open in sunshine - today was grey & showery, so closed My favourite little (18 inch high) chestnut fence which once deterred our senior foster dog Charlie from tipping over the edge & down a steep slope into the pond! A keen mud-bather in his youth - the fence seemed to work OK? Pretty patchwork tangle grows beside the fence now - a clump of Primrose foliage, emerging Bluebell leaves, patterned leaves of Cyclamen, & Ivy twining between.

Moss cushions on the slope of a low roof in sunshine against blue sky. A curled metal upright band is at the corner of the roof tiles - no idea what it’s called? Rounded seam of our roof is dotted with a sunlit mossy landscape. Gutter at the lower roof edge. Blue sky beyond. Rows of sunlit mosses on a tiled roof give a kind of pin cushion effect. Triangle of blue sky at top right Undulating waves of lush green moss covers the lower half of the roof above the guttering. Guess the birds chose to peck the upper half first, as very little moss remains up top?

Around are its fresh green leaves Think this is a sad remnant of a Sow thistle’s yellow flower? Petals are closed up. Also surrounded by Goosegrass foliage Deep crimson flower head of Red Valerian. Fresh green leaves. Growing happily at the base of our house wall. Partner asks when it can be cut back/removed? I reply “when all the flowers are finished” 😇

Window with twilight deep blue sky, on last day of 2025. A row of coloured ball lights along the sill, a small gold wire Xmas tree & three potted houseplants. At the right is a tall cream candle, lit. Happy sugar-pink pelargonium ‘Lotusland’ - zonal/ivy-leaved. In a terracotta pot with neighbours in a plant tray. Many spent petals from Pelargonium sidoides are scattered about - looks like mouse poop! Sunlit flowers of Orchid on windowsill - creamy white petals with magenta centres Miraculous survivor from Woolworths, many many years ago - didn’t think this string of coloured lights would *still* work … again? Surprise! Pink, pale green, orange,red & blue fairy lights on a shelf with a pinecone garland - also Woolworths. Little red bows are dotted along its length, between the brown cones.

Two blooms of striped pink/red Camellia flowers in a little jug on a checked cloth Bright orange berries of Foetid Iris with dark green Ivy foliage in a tiny vase. Beside is a cream coloured pillar candle - lit - which stands in a little cream coloured dog-treat bowl that has a bone-shape in relief on the side. Some red berries are dotted around the bowl. Behind are long striped leaves of a Spider plant Very chocolatey Yule log with little holes in the icing where reindeer & Santa stood! Its serving plate is red with white polka dots and the word ‘Delicious’ in white script.
