Something grimly predictable about the way that the conversation about 'ripoff degrees' in the UK is always about degrees that aren't rip-offs, but are instead fairly obvious 'this student has chosen something unlikely to pay off economically' rather than the short tail of crap business degrees:
Everyone needs educating in the fight over university degrees
Political confusion over the purpose of these institutions means the obvious fixes are being neglected

Some of the saddest stories are the ongoing trauma suffered by survivors of the Nova Festival.

Arad Katz fled the festival in a car with friends. He saw Eden Ben Rubi standing with police officers at a junction, so didn't offer her a ride. She was later shot dead.

Important commentary from my @crisisgroup.org colleague @mairavz.bsky.social.

I will add that American domestic politics are slowly shifting on this relationship.

My review of the second volume of the official history of ASIO.

As a student of organisational governance, I love how this book is as much an organisational history as an operational one, especially when looking at ASIO under the Whitlam Government.

This makes me so angry. These people view all life as training for lifelong servitude/work. There's no room for interest, enjoyment, and culture in their bleak vision of education. At least she'll never be in power to see it through. Though Reform are probably worse.
Badenoch: Curb students taking "rip-off" degrees such as English. The performing arts, sociology and anthropology are among the subjects the Conservatives would like to cut

'obliging different areas to bid against one another and then leaving the ultimate say-so down to Whitehall has proven hugely misguided in all sorts of different levelling-up-adjacent funding opportunities in recent years.'
So this is what devolved research funding looks like
A couple of recent policy announcements show how the government is attempting to navigate the niceties of regional funding distribution
