Everyone should listen to this compelling but somewhat scary episode of the Cleaning Up podcast, featuring coral reef ecologist Dr Katharina Fabricius.

The multiple climate & related threats to coral reefs across the world are undeniable, and extremely concerning

Can We Save the Great Barrier Reef? | Ep225: Dr Katharina Fabricius
Why should we care about coral reefs? What happens when they collapse? And is there still hope for their survival? In this episode of Cleaning Up, Bryony Worthingto…

Turns out the deductions about racial integration in the UK, you apparently made from spending 90 minutes in Handsworth, are objectively, measurably and definitively wrong.

Maybe an unconscious bias on your part, do you think?

Maybe not though.

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Heseltine at the Tory conf:

"Fascists of the 30s are back... Trump's language coincides with words here... The immigrant has replaced the Jew as the problem. We must make clear we will never have any part in the populist extremism of Farage... We don't need Trump's mouthpiece anywhere near No. 10.”

The idea that 1.5°C is safe is a dangerous illusion. We’ve already crossed multiple tipping points — the Great Barrier Reef, West Antarctica, Greenland. These shifts aren’t future risks. They’re happening now. — David Spratt

Jenrick has gone from forgettable nobody to frothing-BNP-styled dickhead. Why does this corrupt little man get to strut around the media blowing his racist dog-whistle?
He should be shamed and shunned out of political existence. We all despise the Tory party for a reason. He’s one of those reasons.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

As renewables overtake coal as the world's largest source of electricity, what did we get from the Tory conference?

- repeal the Climate Change Act
- scrap 2050 net-zero target
- remove renewable energy subsidies
- maximise oil and gas extraction from the North Sea

They are so out of touch!
Renewables overtake coal as world's biggest source of electricity
Developing countries lead the historic clean energy charge but the US and EU rely more on fossil fuels than before, a think tank study shows.

Is "Honest" Bob Jenrick now too openly racist for Farage to allow him into ReformUK?

What a nasty little 💩

Would be interesting to hear Badenoch's reaction.

I really like this use of big data to go after unpaid tax.

I know it's just one of a range of measures the Labour government has worked on to go after unpaid tax.

And the impact in year 1: £4.6bn tax collected through this system, 35% higher than the average under the Tories.

Makes zero sense (for a change 🤷‍♂️)

If he's made a decision, why does he need more info?

Nigel Farage is owned by Russia. Vote Leave was illegally financed by Russia. Brexit was and is a Russian active measure to harm Britain and its home in Europe.

What if you woke up and your home was gone? 🏚️

As sea ice melts, southern species are pushed north. These newcomers outcompete Arctic wildlife.

That's 72,779 new ICE cars not being sold 👏.

Why we are still allowed to buy/sell brand-new fossil fuel cars is beyond me.

No need to wait until 2030. New ICE cars should not be on the market any more.

The latest BEV alternatives are at near price parity, and superior in every respect.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵
