Sometimes I know how super lucky I am to teach Environmental Science. Took 2 classes outside to see the spring growth on our school grounds. Here’s a nest in one of our trees.
Today was the last teaching day before February Break. Not traveling this time, so I’m glad to have a quiet week at home.

Just booked a trip to London for the week after Christmas. It’s group travel, with enough free time for me to see a few key places, like Covent Garden and Westminster Abbey. I’m thrilled! I love London so much!

I just typed up a quick little pre-quiz for the new Astro class. Off the top of my head - What galaxy are we in? What color is Mars? Grammarly tells me that 41% of my document has “possible AI text.” But I typed this with my own 2 hands! From my own brain! What the heck?

I made this graphic, but I can’t truly take credit for it. It is directly copied from something my Bio teacher drew on the board in the fall of 1987. I’ve used something like this in all my Bio classes since 1995. Now it’s digital!

Ok, so now I have created graphics of the thylakoid membrane, Calvin cycle, cell membrane, how insulin acts on the membrane, diffusion, active transport, and the structure of a phospholipid. Up next - OSMOSIS - hyper-, hypo-, and isotonic solutions. So much fun!

This year, I bought myself a program to create clip art for the worksheets and handouts I use at school. I’ve made about 40 pieces of clip art. Right now, I am working on a thylakoid membrane, since I’m teaching photosynthesis next week. It’s kind of fun!

Pre-Christmas Break “Jeopardy” was, in a word, CRAZY! Allegations of cheating! Arguments over correct responses! The only prizes were a few extra credit points, which won’t substantially change anyone’s grade. Kids were WAY competitive!

Putting positivity into the universe - Had a rough day teaching. Discouraged. Got an email from a student in the class who saw my POV- made me feel valued, like my efforts are not in vain. Hard to fathom that I can’t reach everyone. 😢 Grateful for the ones I DO reach. 😊
