Indeed. But interesting that in wiser days anthropologists have been brought in by governments to advise. Sigh.

And as for understanding human behaviour, who needs anthropology when you've got Farage.

Tuesday, you know, strikes me as a harp sort of day — earnest, delicate, and just trying not to twang too loudly before lunch. 🎶

Since 1980, the ECHR has heard just 29 UK immigrant deportation case, and the UK won 16 of them. Quitting will make no material difference to immigration, just weaken protections for absolutely everybody in this country. But Farage and the Tories know that.

What an admirably clear statement from the Jewish Leadership Council, especially when all of those involved must surely have been dealing with so many other urgent challenges in safety, security and grief + shock today before having this further divisive and distracting intervention to address too.

Do you live in northern England? Or the north Midlands? (Not to mention central Scotland, or the Tory south).

If you do, and this pack of lunatics is elected, immigrants will be the last of your worries.

*They* won't destabilise the very ground your house stands on...

This just a few weeks after many of Robinson’s supporters were doing Nazi salutes and shouting Nazi slogans at his march in London. Absolutely insane stuff.

This Israeli government decision to host Tommy Robinson will widen the growing gulf between the Netanyahu government and the British public, including the broad majority of Jews in Britain (3/4 of whom dsapproved of Netanyahu, before this new link to this anti-Muslim racist UK far right convict).

Oh, you just answered my question!

Can anyone tell me if the new Archbishop of Canterbury is the first female leader of a worldwide religion? Just curious.

Today I'm recovering from reading out loud to a group of adults in an upstairs room in a converted barn in Lancashire. Oh, the heady world of poetry! No one took pictures of the group (Jennie Owen, Phil Barnett, me) - we missed you @rondavies.bsky.social So here's an article in today's i newspaper

By the earthed lightning of a flock of swans,
Their feathers roughed and ruffling, white on white” -Seamus Heaney
