as a sort of figurative middle finger to the next four years, I've resolved to become even gayer
"I need to draw more" I tell myself every day, while not drawing

anyway here are some cuties

The assassination of Charlie Kirk makes we worry we can no longer have peaceful discussions of whether gays should be stoned to death or civil and collegial debates about whether black people are inherently inferior. Our culture will suffer.

feeling guilty for making horse art when the country is on fire

but also, making horse art because the country is on fire

I love going to horse shows as a spectator, but the thing is I want to tell everyone their horse is a cutie pie and I can't anticipate whether any given equestrian sees their horse as a Very Serious Athlete or just a little guy

they should make Chopped for designers

"in your ZIP file is Avenir Black, a rainbow halftone texture, Pantone 306C, and a stock photo of a tiger. You must use all those assets to make an Instagram ad for wineglasses. You have one hour."

Pretty wild to make your entire case about how immigrants are lawless freeloaders, but having to go to their workplaces and court hearings to arrest them.

conservatives be like "libs are so elitist because intelligence isn't everything. there are more important traits to have, like kindness or integrity" and then not have kindness or integrity

make politics boring again
Biden was boring…
I say that with a great deal of nostalgia.

isn't it weird how the people who are categorically distrustful of politicians and harped for years about how the government is deeply corrupt... suddenly love the guy who is blatantly corrupt and untrustworthy.

I'm begging them to use their conspiratorial libertarian skepticism just. this. once.

I think MAGA honestly believes economics is like a secret CIA-level operation and not a scientific field. Econ can be exploratory but it's not like, some unknowable concept. These aren't like war plans with a secret strategy. We can all see the effects.

republicans: we totally support immigration when it's done legally

republicans when immigrants come here legally: actually we don't like this either
April 18, 2025 at 3:26 PM
apparently you can get republicans to cheer for higher taxes as long as you call them something else

do republicans understand there's more to governance than just... punishing people

yesterday my coworkers were chatting near my desk about how graphic design is a skilled profession and requires specific training, while I was simultaneously struggling to resize a photo in Illustrator

I've been harping that we should keep creating art for a future world where art matters again.

Which isn't meritless, but I'm starting to think that's the wrong approach. Art matters MOST in times of chaos and calamity. There isn't a future world. The shape of the road is the road.

All I keep thinking about is how Pete Hegseth raised questions of the competency of a Black four-star general and Air Force fighter pilot who was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hegseth asked did he get the job “because of his skin color? Or his skill? We’ll never know, but always doubt.”
