started replacing the text on some of my more unhinged worldbuilding diagrams with elvish so that i can post them in da groupchat to antagonize people without spoiling things. things are fine here, dwai.

using an old dm screen, a knitting needle, some plastic bobbins, couple wall hooks, and some decent 60-lb printouts of someone's excellent GM screen panels (www.reddit.com/r/daggerhear...), I have made a daggerheart GM screen w/ fear tracker. :3c

oh yeah i made an encounter sheet thing for daggerheart.

it's a lil bit crowded at the moment, a hypothetical second pass would cut down the battlefield section and add a lil more breathing room, but that'll come later. for now at least it does what i needed it to.

A friend had this when I was a kid, but we basically just used the stuff in it (esp. the paper minis) to play AD&D, As Was the Style At the Time (in my friend group anyway).

Grabbed a copy for dirt cheap at a garage sale a couple years ago.

That dragon made it into Dragon Strike's logo, also! 🐉

There are hundreds of skills, each expansion adding tons more. And any given character only having access to some of them based on their class and subclass choices. Many skills have to be unlocked, either by buying or finding them (or by "capturing" them from bosses, which feels amazing).

They will have the possibility to learn new skills as they progress in each campaign. A skill can be learned by: - Doing certain quests which reward the player with a skill or automatically give the character skills (for example Domination Magic (quest) or The Elementalist Experiment). Most of these quests are secondary quests (they do not follow the storyline) and available as soon as the player reaches a new region (especially tutorial areas). - Purchasing a skill from a skill trainer (PvE-only skills and elite skills cannot be learned this way). - Purchasing a skill from a Hero skill trainer (except for non-Sunspear PvE-only skills). - Capturing a skill from a boss. - Switching secondary profession, which adds the set of default basic skills for each profession. Each time a PvE character learns a new skill (except for PvE-only skills), a small dialog box appears informing that the skill has become unlocked for the account. When a skill is unlocked on an account, it can be used by all PvP-only characters and heroes of the account. Additionally, PvE characters can use a skill tome or elite skill tome (if the skill was elite) to learn the unlocked skill. If the unlocked skill was non-elite, all skill trainers of that skill's campaign (with the exceptions of Halbrik in Ascalon (pre-Searing)) will start offering the skill for all PvE characters of the account, even if it was not already part of their original unique set of skills for sale."

I wrote too much again, on a bit of a tangent, but i promise this is about "nonmagical rogues"
Text of a very long post (almost 700 characters over the bluesky character limit): "Not to get all Tolkien on you, but I think this is where my disconnect is w/ people who deride the notion of "magic systems" in fantasy (stipulating that I know there are very stupid and inelegant takes on that concept). Your whole fucking world has to be "magic" if any of it is. Layering "magic" onto a world that otherwise functions with our world's same physical and chemical causal mechanisms (whether the characters are aware of those physical laws or not) makes very little sense and is extremely boring. "Magic" isn't "spells & circles & incantations", it has to be "skill" or "craft" or "lore" or "will enacted upon a receptive aetheric medium", otherwise it's basically nonsense. If your world wasn't sung into creation or woven from threads of probability or ordered from chaos by the worldrunes or whatever, then it basically shouldn't have magic. And if it has magic anyway, you should be open to exploring how its presence is dramatically unraveling reality."

Took a second to try to figure out how the steamforged Elden Ring board game actually works, because there are like 15 boxes and none of them seemed to be, like, *the* core set, and the answer was... interesting.

The one for incarnum is funny because I look at it and my brain is trying really hard to turn it into Regdar, even though I know it's that skarn guy. Idk if he has a name.

I also love that it has ring slots, but then says "no corresponding chakra slots here, bud, sorry, idk y we put this here lol"
