I make things, including bike rides, state housing laws, bread, and trouble. Quality varies with rainfall, political winds, and tire pressure. Run comms at @cayimby for the love of cities.

There's a story in today's Washington Post about how Republican voters are furious with Trump for softening his stance on kidnapping and murdering American citizens.

These may as well be the same Confederate traitors who tore up the Missouri Compromise.

This does not abate when Trump is gone.

The original Civil War didn't start suddenly at Ft. Sumter in 1861. It festered for decades before devolving into stochastic violence waged by proto-Nazi Southerners. Their heirs now wear masks and ICE badges.

And finally -- FINALLY -- a major Democrat is being honest about what's happening.

A massive suburban oil company corporate campus is going to be converted to a "10-minute walkable city."

An entire generation of Americans are abandoning car dependence, driving less, and living in places that don't mandate car ownership.

Vacancy rate go up, rent go down.

Believe it or not, there are dozens of non-profit "housing" organizations who collectively receive hundreds of millions of dollars per year from billionaire philanthropists who simply do not believe the law of supply and demand.

It's been a few years since I've posted on this, but it is always important to remember what Fox News is, what the broad ecosystem of fascist media is, and the implications for national politics.

There is not, in fact, a way to reach most MAGA diehards. And that's ~ 75 million Americans.

This is a 3" studded tire for an e-bike that works perfectly well in snow and ice:

Friendly reminder that not only was Henry Ford a literal, proud fascist, but his ideas were so powerful that Adolph Hitler -- yeah, that one -- had a giant portrait of Henry Ford behind his desk.

Here's Nazi generals awarding Ford the Grand Cross of the German Eagle -- the highest Nazi honor:

Fox News fascsists sre tacitly calling for more mom's to be murdered by ICE.

We're so far past the end lesson of the paradox of tolerance, I don't see how we make it.

Then head over to Marin County, which builds practically no new housing whatsoever -- and now faces a $17 billion bill to save homes and businesses from sea level rise.

That's over $170,000 per home. www.sfchronicle.com/climate/arti...

My personal pref would be "Cinquelito," we could pull this off all over California.

trying to imagine how the minds of Confederate Republican traitors work, can't figure it out
January 9, 2026 at 3:13 AM
A reminder: 2026 is the year that Confederate Republican traitors in Congress allocated $160 billion to expand ICE.

The Republican traitors also authorized the money to be used to hire domestic mercenaries -- if ICE hiring goes too slow.

Minneapolis is just the beginning of the beginning.

the sooner the regulators get on top of transparency, the sooner AVs can start repairing their garbage reputation with most Americans.
January 6, 2026 at 9:37 PM
Nobody's going to stop the experiment, we're talking about the car industry here. What's going to happen:

Dishonest marketing by AV companies will steadily erode trust to the point where, if and when they have evidence to support claims, they'll then have to spend years convincing carmakers.
January 6, 2026 at 8:08 PM
But all of this is academic. AV marketers have wrecked their own market in the name of satisfying the quarterly reporting demands of their investors and LPs.
January 6, 2026 at 8:06 PM
Trust in autonomous cars is *getting worse with time* and no, yelling more loudly at people like me who care about safety will not, in fact, fix it.
January 6, 2026 at 7:35 PM
Anyway, dismiss my POV all
you like, AV marketers playing fast and loose with safety data are the entire sector's worst enemy.
January 6, 2026 at 7:32 PM
i mean, wow. ***27 million fewer car trips***
