Heard someone describe this recently as the goal of AI is to colonize all human interaction and extract rent from it and I think that about covers it

“One of the negative consequences AI is having on students is that it is hurting their ability to develop meaningful relationships with teachers, the report finds. Half of the students agree that using AI in class makes them feel less connected to their teachers.”
Rising Use of AI in Schools Comes With Big Downsides for Students
A report by the Center for Democracy and Technology looks at teachers' and students' experiences with the technology.

This blog on the "offer" made to universities by the Trump administration is very useful. A university signing it puts itself into a position in which Trump admin can arbitrarily decide if policies are exactly to their liking. It is a trap, one that no university needs to sign. #EduSky #AcademicSky

The government is shut down because Trump and the Republicans are hellbent on taking health care away from you.

And they won’t even come to the table to talk to us about it.

This is not about politics. It's about people.

Let’s break it down:

Alumni of the 9 schools Trump is threatening with taking away ALL funding if they don't agree to his ridiculous demands: you can sign this petition and also call/email the school leadership. Brown, U of Arizona, Dartmouth, MIT, UPenn, USC, University of Texas, Vanderbilt U, U of Virginia

I call on Governor Abbott to immediately withdraw any support for this decision and refuse to coordinate. There is no reason a President should send military troops into a sovereign state without their knowledge, consent, or cooperation.

This is a breathtaking abuse of the law and power by the President of the United States.

America is on the brink of martial law.

Do not be silent.

This evening, President Trump is ordering 400 members of the Texas National Guard for deployments to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations within the United States. No officials from the federal government called me directly to discuss or coordinate.

We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s Invasion. It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops.

was it 1899 that the Committee of Ten decided that HS math should culminate in calculus? So much has changed, she said sarcastically . . .

NEW: Rachel Maddow drops unseen bodycam footage of feds coordinating the arrest of Newark Mayor Baraka.

I REPEAT: the feds ordered his arrest even though he wasn’t breaking any laws.

Federal agent: “We are arresting the mayor right now per the Deputy Attorney General of the United States.”

#ITeachMath #MathEd can anyone help me find the article or other resources where students (or preservice teachers) can chart their mathematical autobiographies using a line graph as a way to think through their histories as math learners? I know I have seen this, and cannot find it!

Too often, tech creates logistical problems that disrupt learning.

My 6th grader's school, for ex, uses Chromebooks for everything. But the kids haven't learned typing, so work takes longer than by hand. And they often forget to charge the devices at home, so class gets wasted trying to plug in.

Donald Trump is using federal agents to stoke fear and violate constitutional rights — all with the aims of expanding his control and sending military troops to our cities.

It’s unlawful and un-American. We must all stand up and speak out against fanning the flames of violence.
