I helped with a community art project for Christmas and there were so many left over polar fleece scraps destined for landfill that I had no unvent polar fleece tinsel.

Beautiful yellow flowering gum in Rupanyup. I’d never seen a bright yellow one before: red, pink, orange, scarlet, cream but not this golden shade.

The OG. The first silo art is so huge that it is best viewed from the other side of the highway. It’s at Brim. Last one for today at Arkona. It looks warmer than it is because of clear skies.

A young female sheep farmer, and an older man with his horse. We loved how much detail came out of the limited colour palette. By Kaff-eine, at Roseberry.

Skipping over Woomelang, this is by Rone, at Lascelles. This is a real local woman, and her husband is on the north face

When Ms 18 agreed that silo art would make a good road trip, it turned out that she had no idea what a silo was. Not metaphorically or as 30 m of concrete. She is blown away! We have seen 6 of these amazing works of public art today. This is Nullawil, by Smug.

We are very close in height, and apparently not supposed to have any toast (or wine).

Sewing class this week. It’s a “floppy pot” made from two small pieces of gorgeous Japanese printed duck (heavy cotton) from the scrap bin and a bold lining from the same bin. Christmas vibes.

So I decided to make the labels for the artworks in the exhibition of mathematical art at the Australian Mathematical Society conference...using LaTeX.

Cool today, but unmistakably Spring. Lunch with Ms 18 in Carlton. When I was a student at Melbourne University, I would sometimes meet my mum for lunch.

Yesterday I did a walkthrough of the rooms for the AustMS conference and chose the space for the inaugural art exhibition. (This isn’t it; this is the tearoom, where we enjoy this work from the university’s art collection.)

The practice piece was also a bit large. But here is the real deal. It's been fun. #crochetgrannylife

The drawing form was initially an adaptation to make a needle-free version for outreach activities where tracking the needles was difficult. But it was ideal for the 100 day Math Art Challenge. With stitching there are two patterns- there’s another on the reverse. I’ve used plastic needles recently

#MathPhoto25 For less than the cost of a cup of coffee, I could have taken all this playful maths home from the charity shop. However, I do already own them all, including the Dr Woo puzzle centre bottom.
