Rest In peace Mr Brian Patten.

I won't blame him for what followed (others might), but his books were what started me off towards being a poet. When I was bout 13, I had The Irrelevant Song on repeat loan from North Walsham library for a year or so before I got my own copy.

I WAS in Lyme Regis recently
and there was a sign that read
Do Not Feed Me', accompanied by
a photo of a scrawny seagull. That's
all well and good, but there were

It’s early days in terms of data collection, but after two weeks of having no child at home I see a correlation (not causation, obvs*) between her absence and fewer unpaired socks.
