Adding this reminder for next year: (1) we use a larger diameter cookie cutter, so yield is closer to 30 or so, (2) we always make well more mashed potatoes than we need for the filling and have leftover, (3) this is probably fine, we still had leftover pierogi to freeze with recipe as-is.

Closing it out, a friend has got me started on the DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL series, which is a fun popcorn snack. I’ll start book 3 in the new year.

Adam Robert’s’ THE THIS was also interesting, and I finished McMurtry’s LONESOME DOVE series. None quite lived up to the first but it was still solid.

In kid’s books, it was a very Sara Pennypacker year with my oldest, and that’s a good thing. HERE IN THE REAL WORLD and LEEVA AT LAST were both great, and her Clementine and Waylon series were both hits.

In theology-land, Kevin Vanhoozer’s MERE CHRISTIAN HERMENEUTICS was fantastic, so much there about shaping how we read and respond to Scripture.

Kierkegaard’s THE SICKNESS UNTO DEATH also had a good bit to chew on.

Kazuo Ishiguro is hard not to like, and AN ARTIST OF THE FLOATING WORLD was potent, examining how we respond to belonging to bad systems.

Back to dystopias, HUM by Helen Phillips is also fantastic, another “human scaled” story, not of fighting the system, but fighting to stay together.

Is this what using your phone in the 50s was like?

Now I’m just trying to remember if I need to scale this up or not. 3 1/2 dozen sounds like both a lot and not as many as usual. (Both could be true.)

Granted, it has less egg than I use in my go to pasta recipe I’ve used before, and I think the butter and sour cream should keep it from being too chewy.

I think it may have been from King Arthur flour, the bit about working the dough with my fingertips sounds familiar, but I also thought it didn’t have egg.
