Jeez, he forgot the [insert derogatory term for immigrant populations here]

Do you think his crusade against mammograms was what set him down this path?

Holy hell! I remember that ad. My job in summer of 95 (maybe 96, its been a bit) was driving around the states dropping recruiting info for an outcomes trial at every big city AIDS foundation. Hard to believe how different it is now.
So glad for Melissa.

Wasn't George Brett the best man?

Fair, but I think it is important to see that the current antivax leaders are not at all the same group as the small time GOOP grifters. Prasad, Markary, Kulldorff, Ladapo all come from academia, not the tent at the medicine show.

Yeah. I spent a long time taking the concerns about aluminum or autism or whatever talking point seriously. In a trust conversation, you approach way differently. I dont trust big parts of pharma/FDA, either, but measles sucks. And if your kid is college or army bound, it will happen later.

I suspect the fix is more in courts vs vax policy. Approach like the cleanup of opiate overprescribing - class action of people harmed by the Bigtree/RFK set. Aggressive board action vs antivax doctors. I dont see any evidence it will happen, but it is my choice.

I dont claim to know how to fix the problem, I just think we've mostly misdiagnosed where it comes from.
You talk to people who are vax hesitant- do you agree that mistrust of government is the key driver? It seems possible your area is different from mine.

Oh gawd, could you imagine being a mid-level provider (i know, I am old and still use that term) and having to endure one of these jerks on the phone?

What an ass. I was just joking to a friend last night that Berenson has been quiet.
I'd love for Alex to have to spend an hour in an exam room with three or four people disabled by long COVID c 2020.

I believe nearly all antivax is about being forced to do something as part of access to a thing (school, employment, etc) by a government they dont trust. Tell me a country, and I will guess their covid vax rates based on their political landscape, not their education level
December 1, 2025 at 3:42 PM
Same, and it bothers me to see policy makers miss this obvious point.
Until we make people feel like they have choice in the matter, we will continue to see vax rates decline. Look at vaccination rates across the world, and i think it becomes blindingly obvious why ours are cratering.

I mean, we all just saw 2021 play out right in front of us...
Anyone who thinks a major disease outbreak is going to reverse antivax momentum needs to explain why MMR coverage hasn't jumped way up this year.

Same, except swap in 60s garage for metal. Im only finding 80s metal now

Spaceman 3!! That era where the punks started tripping balls had some of the all time greats. I think there is a parallel universe where Husker Du stayed happy and rode that wave to superstardom. That world crushes the grunge ascendancy.

Hes a really intelligent guy, but hides it from the stage character. Neil Young tred a similar path, I guess
