Maybe I’m naive but I’m hopeful that we can actually fight against the notion of GenAI/LLMs = AI. AI has been a broad category of technical approaches since the 1950‘s and I think redrawing the borders to only mean a specific subset of approaches is only in the interest of VC/tech ghouls.

I’ve had the same two books on my nightstand for months with very little progress for the same reason. I’m banking on a long flight at this point.

Really excited to get back to @aiide.bsky.social this year and support one of our rising stars making her conference debut!

One of the things that's been eye opening in ten years post-academia is how we deliver actual value rather than intellectual curiosity. Going to enjoy talking further on this!

So even before any legal action this has already been massively expensive for OpenAI.

Meaning that OpenAI, already hemorrhaging money, made the “clever” move to make a video generation social media site to hemorrhage money even faster.

AI always calling your ideas “fantastic” can feel inauthentic, but what are sycophancy’s deeper harms? We find that in the common use case of seeking AI advice on interpersonal situations—specifically conflicts—sycophancy makes people feel more right & less willing to apologize.

And obviously this is me observing industry dynamics while shaking my head sadly so everyone knows I don’t approve

Bunch of commenters don’t see to understand that Tencent came in to prop up Ubisoft and that this was the deal they got for that.

After being torn apart by private equity, popular EA studios will probably get similar deals, assuming this pays dividends for Tencent.

thanks for enjoying the show! @brendanmcleod.com and I do talk about some of the different orderings in later episodes but not that specific one. Thanks for bringing it up! I wasn’t previous familiar. Kind of six of one-y with some notable variations.

“September 30th is meant to begin a season of reflection and re-assessment, not a once and done but a constant renewal as we learn new things about who we were, are and might yet be.

There are enough books here, and in the bibliographies at the end of each of them, to get you through to the spring”

It’s official: EA is going private.

The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.
