Exactly this
Popular Chronologies:

Prehistoric = bad, unless dinos

Ancient = mixed, usually just "old." Often interchangeable with "biblical."

Classical = good. "Blah blah Western Civ." 🥱

Medieval = bad, everything "we" aren't

Renaissance = good, Classic pt. 2

(Early) Modern = (slightly) good, because "us"
Listen: When a media outlet casually throws "medieval" into a headline, they aren't making an argument about legal history. They are using it as a casual pejorative to try and cast the current topic as non-modern. It's rarely correct history. It's never a rhetorical move meant to illuminate.

Chef Auguste Escoffier’s "Le Guide Culinaire" (1903) is a cornerstone of culinary arts, but "The Thanksgiving Cook Book" (1911) strays from tradition. Instead of turkey, stuffing & pie, his menu features rabbit, ragout & crawfish! 🦃🥧

A must see every time I visit my happy place
The Light of the Desert, the first stone visitors to our gem collection will see, is the largest faceted cerussite in the world at 898 carats.

Cerussite refracts more light than diamond, but is much too fragile for jewellery use; even a rapid temperature change would shatter it!

The Unreal series may have been shelved years ago, but Epic is letting its first two installments live on through the Internet Archive.
