The final act of my novel is based around that idea. Just showing up in orbit isn't good enough for a developed world if they can shoot back with any reliability!

It was just such a startlingly stupid use of intellectual effort! It would be like critiquing Shanghai Noon for its Western setting being more analogous to the late 1860s rather than its stated 1880s.

It's like someone went on a tangent to prove an opening shot in some Netflix show set in Chicago in the 1880s couldn't happen since there weren't enough black or Chinese people for it to be possible.

Which, sure I guess, but it's a random shot so who cares?

Alas it's the life of Canadian driving. I was not sparing on my tires with all the commuting these last few years!

Roughly 1/3 or 30% seems to be the floor for the absolute worst people in the electorate. Seems to hold steady across the US, Canada and UK, and maybe NZ. I'm unsure about Australia.

Combination of worn out and poor storage for what I suspect were the two on the bottom of the pile! The other two have about a year's life left I'm told, but I'll save a few hundred buying them later!

When they come for us the Buddha won't be so jolly!

A friend and I were literally talking about violent Buddhist rhetoric yesterday and now most north Americans can't understand it!

Having watched people smash displays to steal Pokémon cards I am not surprised.

Occasionally Hyperion shows its age with assumptions of life that wouldn't look out of place in the 1960s, but the alien future it develops keeps surprising me.

Dan Simmons does some beautiful mix and match of genre.
