It looked like a promising print, but unfortunately it failed a few layers later due to a clogged nozzle. However, the pattern seems to be easy to print without support. #3dprinting #bambulab #basket #weaved

Come on, just one more video how to bend the 'Wiener Geflecht' to a cylinder because why not.
It feels like coding/modeling the #3d object with #OpenSCAD is more fun then #3dprinting is. Although such a tangible product is a great thing.

And here is an animated version.

Maybe you remember my post about the Vienna canework pattern (bsky.app/profile/matt...).

Now it's going to be the next circular basket to be printed soon.

Had to create this animation to illustrate what happens. #openscad

I am currently revising my ‘Path-to-Circle Projection’ in #OpenSCAD.

After a week away, picking up where I left off. Making the last basket parameterised with #openscad.

But actually, I want to do the Viennese weave to make round or rounded rectangular baskets out of it.

Also the new #bambulab nozzles and wood filament arrived. Might do a test #3dprint tomorrow.

It went in a completely different direction than I had imagined, but that's fine. The Viennese basket weave will have to wait; I'm going to weave another basket first.

Here is the model again with thinner straws. :)

I finished my Vienna canework pattern (Wiener Geflecht), its just a first PoC, maybe it needs some more refactoring before I might think about some round variation.

Doing some more weaving with #openscad for another #3dprinting project of mine. Wha does it always look so much easier in the first place?

The baskets are also perfect as planters for kitchen herbs, for example. Just let me know if you'd like to see them on Etsy. #3dprinting #baskets #openscad #maths

I like that the videos play in a loop, even if I didn't hold the camera steady enough. Anyway, the basket is finished. #3dprinting #openscad #code2model

Finally #3dprinting again. Had some hotend nozzle clogging and learned about different methods to overcome that. Turns out 'cold pull' is best. Now only 2.5 more hours to go. ;)

still looking at these "zen geometry" like circles. #svg #svelte #javascript
October 2, 2025 at 5:56 PM
I am still not sure about the generalization. You set a fixed radius for the arcs, right? I use two times the polygons radius. For polgyons with an even corner number, arcs met on another axis. How did you determine arc angle?
As I said, I can't figure out a generic approach I am satisfied with.

nice! Maybe I'll give build123d a chance? But for these 2D experiements I go with Svelte. Just as a sidenote, there's the next square defined by the arc intersections. :)

I'm currently tinkering with the calculations behind these geometries, but I'm not sure about some of the parameters in order to make them completely generic. #svg #javascript #maths

Guess what #ball I create next out of an #icosahedron with just #openscad #code?

I am into all kind of spheres and balls recently, actually I don't know why. But so far it's fun. #openscad #construction #ball #sphere #3dprinting

I accidentally made another basket. Should I list it on Makerworld or Etsy? #openscad #3dprinting

I obviously can combine those effects and apply both. ;)
